NARCY

Yassin Alsalman, known by the artist moniker, Narcy, is an Iraqi-Canadian musician and multimedia artist known as a seminal member of the hip-hop scenes in Montreal, Dubai, and the Arab World. As a former member of the group Euphrates, he is considered a pioneer of Arab hip-hop. The man who used to perform as The Narcicyst, he has done voice-over work for Assassin’s Creed Origins, won the MMVA Video of the Year  in 2017 for his directorial debut with indigenous electronic group Tribe Called Red featuring Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), earned a Juno Nomination for Best Music Video in 2017, and starred in the Ali F. Mostafa's film City of Life in 2009. Since then, he has directed the Talib Kweli feat. Anderson Paak video "Travelling Light' in 2017, and filmed with Kaytranada, Jay Electronica, Dave Chappelle, and Spike Lee.

Narcy is a Professor in the Fine Arts department at Concordia University, teaching two courses on media and narrative, and music and social change. His music has been featured  in films such as Voices of Iraq and Fast and Furious 7. He is a seasoned actor, starring in Feature Length Film City of Life, TV5's Bêtes Humaines. Narcy will be releasing his new album SpaceTime in Fall 2018, working on film projects and executing media projects with his partners at WeAreTheMedium, an international transmedia and culture consultation collective based out of Montreal.
